Storage of formation water – temporary containment of water extracted together with oil and gas before further treatment or disposal
Bitumen storage tanks
Produced water storage tanks
The extraction of crude oil and natural gas is accompanied by the simultaneous recovery of formation water, also known as produced water. This is water originating from deep geological layers, which comes to the surface together with hydrocarbons. Due to its high content of salts, heavy metals and hydrocarbons, its storage requires specialised solutions. CGH formation water tanks are designed for the safe and efficient storage of this medium, ensuring durability and protection against external factors.
Applications and Advantages of CGH Produced Water Tanks
Contaminant separation – allowing heavier fractions to settle and enabling preliminary purification prior to technological processes
Pre-injection preparation – storage of water before reinjection into the reservoir to enhance extraction efficiency
Robust construction – manufactured from steel, such as P355NH, providing high strength and resistance to demanding operating conditions
Double-wall design – offers additional protection against leaks and enhances environmental safety
Corrosion resistance – achieved through the use of appropriate materials and coatings that protect the tank against aggressive saline media
Thermal insulation – tanks may be equipped with 100 mm mineral wool insulation, reducing heat loss and protecting against temperature fluctuation
Purpose
Formation water originating from oil and gas wells, often containing high concentrations of salts and hydrocarbons
Saline water requiring specialised construction materials resistant to corrosion
Hydrocarbon mixtures that may occur in formation water and affect its properties
