Belly tanks

CGH is a manufacturer of industrial steel tanks that has supplied solutions for standby power and data centres for many years. CGH belly tanks are rectangular, double-wall fuel tanks installed directly beneath a generator set or container, or alongside the unit.

They store diesel or HVO and give the generator set the run-time autonomy required by the facility design. We design each tank for a specific generator set: its footprint, weight, fuel connection layout and required run time.

We produce tanks in standard container sizes as well as in dimensions specified by the customer.

Applications of CGH belly tanks

CGH belly tanks are used for:

Data centres and critical infrastructure: fuelling generator sets in data centres, hospitals and critical infrastructure facilities.

Emergency power: fuel storage for emergency power systems (UPS + generator set).

Diesel and HVO: storage and distribution of diesel and HVO.

Limited space: temporary and permanent solutions where space is limited.

Construction sites, mines, industry: fuelling containerised generator sets on construction sites, in mines and at industrial sites.

We adapt our designs to the specific nature of our customers’ production processes.

Purpose

By choosing CGH belly tanks, you get:

A load-bearing structure designed for the weight of the generator set or container.

Double-wall construction with interstitial space monitoring.

A compact, rectangular shape that takes up no additional floor space.

Compliance with EN 1090 and the legal requirements for fuel storage.

The option of stainless or acid-resistant steel construction.

Technical data of CGH belly tanks

Description:

  • Rectangular single- or double-wall tanks made of S235JR steel (optionally stainless steel 1.4301/1.4307 or acid-resistant steel 1.4404).
  • Ribbed load-bearing structure designed to support a generator set or container on the tank lid.
  • Optional sloped bottom with a drain nozzle for removing water and sediment.
  • The number, size and location of fittings are agreed with the customer at the design stage.
  • Electronic leak detection system for the interstitial space.
  • Tanks are manufactured in accordance with EN 1090.

CGH belly tanks – standard equipment

  • inspection manhole with cover
  • nozzles: filling, fuel suction and return, vent
  • interstitial space nozzles
  • transport lugs
  • plate or frame for mounting the generator set

CGH belly tanks – optional equipment

  • Interstitial space monitoring with alarm signalling.
  • Fuel level measurement system with output to BMS.
  • Overflow valve and fill-level indicator.
  • Fuel polishing system (fuel circulation and cleaning) for long-term storage.
  • Filtration system.
  • Tank heating and insulation.
  • Specialist anti-corrosion coatings C4M/H, C5M/H and internal coatings.
  • Customised dimensions and colours, customer logo on the casing.

External tank surface

The external surface is shot-blasted to cleanliness grade Sa 2.5 to PN-ISO 8501-1 and protected with an anti-corrosion coating in class C3M or higher. Shot blasting and painting are carried out in the CGH paint shop, a 2,600 m² hall with temperature- and humidity-controlled booths.

Why choose CGH belly tanks

Safety: the double wall and continuous interstitial space monitoring protect the ground and the facility from fuel leaks.

Load capacity: a structure calculated for the weight of the generator set, the container and the dynamic loads from engine operation.

Space saving: the tank acts as the foundation for the generator set – it requires neither a separate footprint nor a containment bund.

Fuel quality: the fuel polishing and filtration system maintains the quality of diesel and HVO during long-term storage.

Flexibility: dimensions, fittings and equipment are selected for the specific generator set model.

Completeness: belly tanks can work with larger underground double-wall tanks to form a complete emergency power supply system.
